Springfield Falcons clinch second straight Northeast Division title By Garry Brown | Special to The Republican For the second straight season, the Springfield Falcons have clinched the Northeast Division in the American Hockey League. The clinching happened Sunday afternoon, when the Adirondack Phantoms defeated the Albany Devils 4-3. The loss left second-place Albany 11 points behind the Falcons with five games left, meaning they can collect no more than 10 points. The Northeast title assures the Falcons of home-ice advantage in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs.
