Instead, he expects to return to as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Utica Comets. Green was offered a job as an assistant to Mike Johnston, the new coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but turned it down. Pirates reach lease agreement with Civic Center By Chris Roy PORTLAND – The Portland Pirates have accepted the lease agreement from the Board of Trustees from the Cumberland County Civic Center, paving the way for the American Hockey League team to return to Maine’s largest city and bringing to an end a nearly year-long process that at times proved to be contentious on both sides. The trustees approved the latest lease by a 6-2 vote after the board met last Wednesday in executive session for roughly 65 minutes.
