Canucks hire Desjardins as coach Monday, 06.23.2014 / 12:12 PM / News NHL.com Willie Desjardins was hired Monday as the new coach of the Vancouver Canucks. Desjardins, 57, had spent the previous two seasons as coach of the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars‘ American Hockey League affiliate. They won the Calder Cup this season, and Desjardins was named the AHL coach of the year in 2012-13, his first season.
