Connecticut Whale 3, Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2 (OT) Bridgeport, CT, March 3, 2013 – The Connecticut Whale let a 2-0 third-period lead slip away Sunday at the Webster Bank Arena, but rebounded to defeat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 3-2 in overtime. Griffins Add Two to Staff

GRIFFINS ADD TWO TO STAFF GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday announced the hiring of Andrew Stegehuis as assistant equipment manager and Annette Niergarth as corporate sales activation coordinator. Stegehuis served as a locker room attendant for the Griffins from 2004-11 before spending the 2011-12 season as the equipment manager for the USHL’s Chicago Steel. He has also assisted the Chicago Blackhawks during past prospect camps, training camps and playoff runs, including the team’s 2010 Stanley Cup championship. RIVERMEN SIGN BLUES PICK SERGEI ANDRONOV St. Louis third-round pick to make North American debut Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed forward Segei Andronov to an American Hockey League contract for the 2012-13 season. Andronov, 23, was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the third round (#78 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Russian-born winger has spent the last four seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League. Last year with CSKA Moscow, Andronov appeared in 29 games and posted a goal and two assists with four penalty minutes.
